Barbara Godel, a commissioned bust
“Celene, All of my life, good fortune has seemed to “dog my heels”. And it led me to you.
“Meeting you a couple of years ago at a fund raising event was the beginning of not only a very close business relationship, but resulted in a 1 year class in the art of following a talented sculptor making a bust of Barbara, my wife of 51 years.
“And gaining a new friend that I cherish very much.
“I gave you a formidable task. Only a person of rare artistic talent could reproduce the facial features in such accurate detail- and do it from photos only!
“And during the months you worked on the bust, I only saw it 3 or 4 times to critique your effort. And when I’d see it the next time, what we agreed needed altering was done, indeed.
“Now, our daughters Kathy and Sally have their mother with them for the rest of their life. And their progeny, etc.
“It’s a treasure they will always love and admire.
“Something I will never understand is how a artist with your talent can arrive at a price to do a commission. Your fee was so fair and reasonable that, considering the results, can only be described as a bargain. You can raise your prices dramatically, as far as I’m concerned!
“So, again my heartfelt THANKS for a rare piece of art that our family will truly cherish. My good fortune, again. Bob” Bob Godel, Portland, OR, December 26, 2001
Santell (My Guide), a special “patina” treatment of My Guide to commemorate a special horse
“Santell is great! The sculpture looks identical to Santell! We love it! It is simply gorgeous! Please, let’s stay in touch. Hope to see you and visit with you next year in Prescott!”
O. D., Prescott, AZ, August, 2001
Shadow Dancer and My Guide, My Guide was initially purchased and then Shadow Dancer was commissioned to be placed alongside, but separate from My Guide
“. . . (Shadow Dancer) arrived this morning. And yes, I am pleased. I expected her to be darker all over, but I do like how she came out – more realistic . . . the base is the right size. It puts Mystic (Shadow Dancer) up a little higher—where a watchful she-wolf might be . . . The longer they are near each other the better they look together. And the energy from them matches and compliments the other. They are quite an awesome presence!!” S. D-P., Broomfield, CO, November 2001
Canine High Jinks, commissioned as a birthday gift for the father, and portraying the three children and four dogs in a moment of play-time
“The piece is gorgeous! It is great! You particularly captured . . . and . . . (the two daughters) and the dachshunds!” E. C., Saratoga, CA, September 2001
Lucy, commissioned Wheaten Terrier
“Celene, Just wanted you to know how much we are both enjoying the bronze of Lucy. You really captured her spirit so well!! Everyone we show it to really gets a kick out of it. Of course, we only show it to dog lovers . . . Fondly, J, H, and Lucy S.
