NEW CASTING
This powerful piece is not only representative of the powers, fluctuations and fluidity of the stock market but also of life. The circle and the opposing yet balanced forces also represent the yin and yang of life and the universe, with the cubs representing the rebirth and growth that occurs from such joining of opposites and creation of change.

The bull is coming from and protecting the higher ground-aggressive and bold. His "higher" position indicates that he has been moving with expansion, aggressively upward and then outward.

The bear is positioned "down" below the bull, in a withdrawing or "pulling within" location-being defensive and having come from her cave or den, back and to her right. As negative space, the cave is symbolic of going within, being within the void, and retreating from the world.

The two cubs are huddled together, and with curiosity and anxiousness watching the impending confrontation and jockeying for power and position. The cubs and what they represent are the symbolic reason she retreats and "powers down"-the rebirthing, protecting and nurturing aspect of life-thus causing the retreat and regression of the market.

The air space between the two titans represents the neutral or balanced state of the market-the curving, flowing path represents the fluidity and circular movement of the changing and evolving market. It is the demarcation point between the negative and positive-the yin and the yang.

Beyond this, the composition is filled with opposites, balancing each other-the male bull and female bear, aggression versus protection, high versus low, above versus below, movement versus "standing ground". The shape of the composition itself, with the added streambed, symbolizes the shape of the yin and yang symbol. The addition of the cave adds the symbolism of the void, or the underworld. The petroglyphs incised on the walls of the cave or den portray the interconnectedness and timelessness of all life.
