Celene Greene, Award-Winning Bronze Sculptor
While a child in the Texas Panhandle city of Amarillo, and as a young adult in New Mexico, Celene Greene’s passion for horses encompassed much of her being. This passion was enhanced during the ensuing years and has expanded to encompass the entire animal world, with horses remaining at its core. All animals as well as the human body hold a beauty and “specialness” that Celene’s sculptures strive to re-create.

A very special and magical animal, “horse” brings and teaches us many things. Through her sculpture, Celene endeavors to bring to life those teachings, those emotions, the yin and yang of horse’s power and majesty coupled with its gentleness and love. This aspect of “horse” illustrates similar attributes and teachings of each animal and human on our earth. Expressing these through her sculpture remains Celene’s focus and goal.

A Master of Reiki, and a continuing student and instructor of Tien T’ai Chi and Tien Tae Jitsu, Celene transmits the same healing and powerful energy and focus to her sculptures, imbuing them with life, energy, movement and flow. She imparts the resulting knowledge of the yin and yang of life, of movement, of muscles, of power, and of space into her work. Reality and all its beauty and power are crucial to Celene and to her sculpture. Accordingly she strives to bring that reality and focus to the sculptures she creates so that they are living, breathing embodiments of horse, wolf, dog, or human being as may be portrayed. Her art captures life’s experiences, its emotions and its energy.

For many years Celene’s passion for art was on temporary hold, due to family and professional demands. When she could no longer ignore her muse, she left the more traditional business world and took the positive step of following her dream.

Celene Greene's sculptures are accepted into prestigious exhibits and shows. Her work has received numerous awards, including Best of Sculpture, First, Second and Third Place, Honorable Mention, and People's Choice. Various art and equine publications have displayed her work. In the Summer 2000 edition of InformArt magazine, Celene was included within a feature article entitled "Six Sculptors and the Horse". Sporting Classics magazine has included her work in "Everlasting Art", October 2000 and 2001, tributes to the foremost US sculptors. The Winter 2001-2, Spring and Summer 2002 issues of InformArt, Equine Images, and Equine Vision magazines include photo and editorial coverage of Celene and her sculptures. Various lead and front-page articles have also been published regarding her and her body of work in various newspapers throughout the Portland, Oregon Metropolitan area where she currently resides.

In addition to sculptures created from the "voice within", Celene has an active and expanding list of patrons who commission "special" works of art for themselves or a loved one. Her work is not limited to one subject area, but rather more broadly covers all subjects with a similarity of handling energy, movement and flow. She has created sculptures with subject matter ranging from horses, to dogs, to wolves and other wildlife, to theme art such as Western and Native American, to children, to busts of adults and children, and the list continues to expand. The creation is always realistic in scope, yet is filled with energy, life, movement and flow. Her pieces come alive before the viewer. Her work is collected by patrons not only on this continent but throughout the world. One of her pieces, New Land . . . New Life, was presented to Nelson Mandela of the Republic of South Africa by an international children's foundation.

Celene will be exhibiting her work at the upcoming Western States Horse Expo, Booth 728 at Cal Expo in Sacramento, California, May 31-June 2, at the Loveland Sculpture Invitational, Loveland, Colorado, August 9-11, and the Sedona Sculpture Walk, Sedona Cultural Park, Sedona, Arizona, October 4-6. Other exhibitions, as scheduled to date, for the upcoming year are listed within this website.

ARTISTIC STYLE
Art and the process of creativity are expressions from the soul . . . the soul of the subject . . . and the soul of the artist. Such creation and emotion are the ultimate high . . . the resulting art lives as an expression and gift of that joy. With realistic sculptures of human and animal forms in bronze and terracotta, Celene creates emotions of power, harmony, and the unending cycle of life. Each reflects love, emotion, and respect for all life. “My work, and its energy, come from within . . . moving from my heart and emotions through my hands into the clay . . . changing frequently during the creative process from that originally envisioned. This resulting piece of art is a living piece of energy and expression. Creating energy, movement and flow in sculpture is the ultimate high.”

PROFESSIONAL LIFE COURSE
For a period of twenty years Celene left art for a professional career in bar association management. Seeking to follow her dream, Celene left her long-time position as Executive Director of the Oregon State Bar. Pursuing art, and particularly sculpture, has been her life-long desire . . . one that is now being fulfilled.
